Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and BeforeRound ("we", "us") for your use of beforeround.com and the BeforeRound service. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use BeforeRound.

1. What BeforeRound does

BeforeRound helps you prepare for job interviews. You share a job posting, a description of a role or your CV. Our software researches the role and company, prepares a brief with likely interview rounds and questions, runs a spoken mock interview with an AI interviewer called Ava, and writes a debrief with feedback.

Ava is an artificial intelligence, not a person. Research, questions and feedback are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. They are practice material, not professional career, legal or financial advice, and not a prediction of any real employer's decision. We do not guarantee that you will receive an interview or an offer.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use BeforeRound.
  • Give accurate information and keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account. Do not share logins or resell access.
  • Tell us straight away at official@beforeround.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.

3. Minutes, payments and taxes

New accounts receive a one time allowance of free interview minutes. Additional minutes are sold in one time packs shown on our pricing page. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically.

  • Minutes are used only while you are connected to a live call with Ava, measured by our servers to the second, and capped at the length you chose for the call.
  • If your browser disconnects without ending the call, we stop counting at the last moment we heard from it.
  • Prep briefs, transcripts and debriefs do not use minutes.
  • Purchased minutes do not expire while your account is open. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred.

Buying minutes is coming soon. When it opens, payments will be processed by a third party payment provider that handles your card details and any sales tax or VAT, and your purchase will also be subject to its terms. We will name the provider here before any payment is taken. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

4. Acceptable use

Use BeforeRound for your own interview preparation. You agree not to:

  • use the service during a real interview to generate answers in real time, or to deceive an employer;
  • upload content you do not have the right to share, or other people's personal data without their permission;
  • try to make Ava produce unlawful, hateful, sexual or harassing content;
  • probe, scan, overload or interfere with our systems, or try to get around usage limits or billing;
  • scrape the service, or use it to build a competing product or train machine learning models.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where the breach is not serious we will usually warn you first.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload and say, including your CV, the job details you provide and your answers on calls ("your content"). You give us a limited licence to store and process your content only to run the service for you, for example to research a role, run an interview, transcribe it and write your debrief. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.

The briefs, questions and debriefs generated for you are yours to use for your own preparation.

6. Third party content

Job postings, company websites and other public pages we read on your behalf belong to their owners. We use them only to prepare your brief. Company names and logos shown in the app identify the employer you are preparing for and do not imply any endorsement of or by BeforeRound.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep BeforeRound available and reliable, but the service depends on third party infrastructure, including AI providers, and may sometimes be slow or unavailable. We may change or improve features over time. If we make a change that materially reduces what you paid for, we will tell you and offer a fair remedy, such as restoring or refunding unused minutes.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account removes your roles, transcripts, debriefs and CV, and any unused minutes are forfeited unless you request a refund under the Refund Policy first. We may close accounts that break these terms or that have been inactive for more than three years, after giving at least 30 days' notice by email.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, BeforeRound is provided "as is", and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a missed job opportunity, lost earnings or lost data. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

If you use BeforeRound as a consumer, you also have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. If a change is significant we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use BeforeRound after that date means you accept the updated terms.
